itemit Presents to its Users a Brand New User Interface

itemit’s simplistic user interface receives a new look!

Starting right back in 2016, itemit first launched itself offering users a smart solution to asset tracking. Asset tracking is a method used to track tools and equipment, often with software. The software uses either QR, Barcode, GPS or RFID tags which can help locate an asset’s location, whilst also housing a profile for the asset, including important information users would formerly have kept in files or spreadsheets. Asset tracking is crucial to managing an inventory within the workplace, it can identify an asset’s location, maintenance schedule, depreciation and many more important pieces of information that an organisation will need to know. How better to do this than with itemit?

Since its launch itemit became quickly loved for its simplistic look and user-friendly interface. The original interface included a turquoise green colour scheme, with fewer features, although easy to use and proved to be a success amongst our customers. We previously brought to you collections, locations, and an issues reporting feature, but it was time to bring you even more and give our customers an even better platform to love!

Fast forward to 2021 with 5 years of growth itemit has had a game-changing, modernistic freshen up. Of course, it was crucial the new interface kept itemit’s simplicity which was much loved by our users, but also to continue providing an easy, friendly and helpful workspace to manage assets from.

One of the more noticeable changes to itemit’s new UI could be seen with the change in colour scheme, ditching the green we implemented a soft red theme. This instantly softened the look of the app and web portal and brought to life the features within.

Taking a further look at the app, a fresh dashboard has been introduced, offering three quick access buttons to help users perform some of their more regular tasks. Those buttons are: Scan, Search and Add. Whilst below this, a snippet of your asset list will display, allowing the option to simply click to see all and view your asset register in seconds. The new implementation to the opening page means your assets and the most used features of itemit have been made easily accessible within seconds of loading up, this improving both our users’ efficiency and cutting down set up time.

Not only this, but the opening dashboard also brings an exciting new addition of a map view, highlighting where your assets are! A super easy and quick option to track an asset’s location again all within seconds. Whilst further down you can find short and simple tutorial videos to help teach and guide you with all you need to know about itemit. Pretty simple right?

That’s not all! Located along the bottom of the app you’ll find a fresh new menu with a tag scanning tool, positioned for quick access which instantly loads your camera to begin scanning your assets! We also introduce a further new feature, the ability of text recognition for when you want to find an asset quickly, just scan in its serial number and our smart app will read and locate your asset just like that!

Whilst we have added lots of new and improved features and a new look, we’ve still kept our item profiles the same with just a light touch of improvement. You’ll find it just as easy to add in all of your asset’s important information as before.

Our biggest new and exciting feature as part of the new release is: ‘Bookings’, giving you the ability to check items in and out to existing users, or create contacts for those who don’t require access to itemit but may need to check an item out. This smart new feature provides users with a calendar to increase visibility over who’s got an asset, when and how long for. Keeping a track of your assets no longer needs to be an issue, with itemit’s new UI and multifunctional features you can tailor itemit to best suit your needs you’ll never have to worry again about where an item is or who has it, itemit will tell you all!

The Future Of Asset Tracking Is Now. itemit Releases Off-The-Shelf Fixed RFID

itemit has released cutting-edge fixed RFID asset tracking functionality. RedBite Solutions, creators of the itemit app, has been working in the RFID sphere for over 10 years. These expertise have been applied to the itemit system to create automated, granular, and accurate fixed RFID asset tracking.

itemit is an asset tracking software with an integrated app and web portal. The system allows you to log your assets as unique profiles and track assets while onsite and when remote. This has proven immeasurably helpful in overcoming the challenges this year has created.

The core of the itemit system is the ability to log, add data to, and track the locations of your tools and equipment. Fixed RFID improves these operations as it allows you to track whenever assets move from one location to another with no manual input required.

The system works through the use of fixed RFID trackers and passive RFID tags. Fixed RFID trackers are placed in tactical locations in your building and when an RFID tagged asset moves out of one location or into a location, this is automatically updated in itemit.

You can read more about how RFID systems work by following the link, but in essence, you’ll use multiple antennas to detect where assets are and how they’re moving.

Currently, itemit’s fixed RFID asset tracking deployment is being used in a hospital to track critical equipment. With consultation from the team, the hospital has placed RFID readers and antennas in tactical locations so that every time an asset moves from one ward to another, the change is logged automatically.

Critically, this saves them time where it is needed the most, as it entirely removes the need to update asset information and location data manually, giving the hospital more control over their assets’ movements.

With itemit, you can combine asset tracking technologies to create the most powerful and transparent levels of accountability and control available on the market.

Now you can use fixed RFID asset tracking to automate your location tracking throughout your sites, GPS asset management to view asset locations when you’d otherwise lose accountability over them and QR code and barcode asset tracking to speed up your day to day asset tracking.

Cloud Connect Competition Winners For 2020

itemit wins Zebra Technologies Cloud Connect Competition

What better way for itemit to end 2020 than to win Zebra technologies cloud connect competition. Cloud Connect is a product created by Zebra, now known as Data Services for RFID. Zebra’s latest products aim is to simply reduce RFID costs, simplify set up and enable data access to be centralised. It’s common knowledge that RFID can be a costly investment for any business. But Zebra soon saw a gap to create something more affordable for smaller businesses too.

RFID- Cloud Connect

Zebra’s RFID data services offer a cheaper solution for usually expensive servers by providing cloud connectivity, which is embedded with their RFID readers. Cloud connectivity means workflows can be streamlined but with a much lower cost than original RFID.

Zebra’s competition involved using their service in a creative and innovative way. These innovations would be judged on their usefulness and contribution to the RFID & IoT sphere.

itemit was the ideal candidate for the competition, as it already had a springboard to implement any cloud-based RFID features, due to RedBite Solutions’ pedigree in RFID asset tracking. After integrating Zebra’s fixed RFID readers, these features included: the ability to update firmware remotely, real-time status of the reader, start/stop function from reading tags, and the capability of switching reader lights on and off to identify readers apart, these are just to name a few.

But we didn’t stop there! Not only did we share existing features with Zebra’s Cloud Connect, we were able to extend their solution further by adding our own features. Those included: being able to show the last detected tag of a reader, assign a location to a reader, and in terms of asset tracking, having the ability to digitally move detected items (which were tagged) based on which reader saw the tag last. Zebra recognised the potential with our own features and saw how we could sell to customers straight away.

But why exactly did we win? itemit was also the first provider within the asset tracking industry to integrate a cloud plug and play reader, itemit’s UI was easy to use and meant RFID, which formerly was almost impenetrable, could be understood by all. Not to mention that it can allow SMEs to use RFID at a cost effective price compared to what larger organisations would have had to pay to deploy bespoke RFID systems. The software itself is highly scalable with no limits or minimums on the amount of RFID readers a business can use. itemit, therefore, really stood out and could offer something no one else has, especially with the integration of QR/Barcode and GPS capabilities.

The ability to take the integration straight to market meant that a return on investment was highlighted instantly, and itemit’s features still include the ability to integrate to Zebra fixed readers with ease.

itemit continues to have a fantastic partnership with Zebra technologies. itemit’s GPS Asset Tracking Solution Automates Your Location Tracking

itemit has launched the world’s simplest GPS asset tracking system. Now, you can mix and match different tracking technologies within the itemit system for the most transparency and accountability over assets possible.

With itemit’s asset tracking software, you can use RFID tags, QR code labels, barcodes, and now, GPS tags to create automated and transparent location tracking operations.

GPS trackers are physical hardware that you can stick onto your assets. They’re battery-powered, so if you’re using them for fleet asset management you’ll be able to plug them into your vehicle to avoid the need to recharge.

AT4 GPS Tracker

The way they work is by periodically pinging a location to itemit. This differentiates the tags from QR codes and barcodes as these tags require manual scanning for location updates. Instead, GPS trackers automatically communicate with the system, letting you know where your assets are wherever they are in the world.

The update period can be discussed with the team depending on your needs and we’ll set up your tags for you so that you can start tracking your assets from day one.

We recommend using the GPS trackers on larger or high-value assets, or if you’re tracking assets across a wide area, such as an airfield or across acres of land. This makes them great for ensuring your deliveries get to where they need to be.

The integration with itemit is simple, too. All you need to do is type in your tracker’s IMEI number and you’re ready to go!

The benefit of using itemit is that you can now get the highest levels of accountability and transparency possible. As you can mix and match technologies, you can use QR codes for audits, RFID tags for high-value assets and small tools, and GPS for assets that are constantly in transit.

You can get your GPS trackers by contacting us at team@itemit.com or by using the button below. When you purchase via email, we’ll also be able to offer you a monthly subscription plan of £9.99/month per tracker. This includes the price of the tracker, too.

itemit RFID Asset Tracking Finalist In RFID Journal 2020 Best RFID/IoT Implementation

An implementation of RedBite’s itemit asset tracking solution has been nominated as a finalist in the 2020 RFID Journal Awards! The nomination is for the Best RFID/ IoT Implementation award.

RedBite Solutions has been working closely with the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) Charity for over two years to track and manage their collection of high-value assets. The REME Charity is part of the Ministry of Defence and is in control of many high-value assets that the armed forces and the ministry have accrued over the years. These assets include a priceless painting of Her Majesty the Queen.

Prior to discovering itemit, the REME team relied on a largely paper-based system with many folders of records. These folders would then be given to auditors to audit the collections. Due to the prestige, value and history the assets boast, a smarter solution was needed.

The REME team required a new modern-day system that would allow for their assets to be logged, accounted for and tracked. Due to collecting high-value assets, many of which are works of art, the team required an asset tagging solution that would not detract from the beauty of the art. And that’s where the itemit RFID asset tracking system comes in!

RFID is the ideal technology for this type of application. One of the great advantages of RFID is the possibility to account for assets with no line of sight. This means that each portrait and painting can have a tag stuck on the back so that it remains hidden. At the same time, when performing a stock check and audits of assets, the RFID reader is still able to detect the tag on the back of the painting.

Not only are the team able to track the whereabouts and value of the assets but they have also been able to digitise the asset’s history. Attachments are added to each asset’s digital profile where they are safely stored and preserved. This includes unique pieces of history, letters and photographs which will never become lost.

REME’s implementation of itemit’s asset management system has been nominated as a finalist for the best RFID/IoT implementation in the “other industries” category at the RFID Journal Awards 2020.

“It’s a real pleasure to work closely with the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers to deliver a cost-effective solution to their unique problems. Having spent time on-site with the team’s unique collection of artwork, we fully appreciate the need to track these collections, not just for auditing and accounting purposes but because these assets have their own unique history that must be preserved for future generations.” RedBite CEO, Dr Alex Wong.

The REME team have referred us to similar organisations and we’re delighted to now be providing a similar solution to the Royal Corps of Signals.

If you have a collection of artwork or assets that require a discreet tracking solution, get in touch with us today at team@itemit.com or 01223 421611.
